35 weeks...craziness!

hi all! biscuit and i met with the midwife yesterday. we are strong and growing! i am now up to 17 pounds of pressure and the belly has added another 2.5 centimeters...35.5 total, measuring perfectly with the gestation of the biscuit. no c-section for this crew!!!

another few signs of this growing baby...the heartrate has dropped (as duke says s/he is leaving the hummingbird stage) to a whopping 120 bpm. (right now, my mom is reading this and saying, "it's a boy!" haha) biscuit moves so much that i actually googled...."is it supposed to hurt when your baby kicks?" and sometimes it just does!

we went to a reggae show on saturday, and biscuit was going crazy with the base. s/he seems to have taken on a new favorite position since then which is buns out...just above my bellybutton...and s/he likes to put two little feet on the back and side of my uterus and push with all of the strength in the world...OUCH! and s/he shakes it's little booty back and forth causing my belly to look like jello...it is awesome!

as far as the gestational diabetes goes...it is all under control. i am still eating crazy amounts of vegetables and lean proteins. snacks include carrots with peanut butter (don't knock it...delish!), roasted pecans and smoked gouda cheese, greek yogurt, cucumbers with salt n' vinegar and straight kim...(korean seaweed). oh, and if i am really good, coconut milk ice cream! yum yum yum! try it...especially if you are lactose intolerant!

i am so thankful that i eat everything. makes this diet much easier! other than my big ole basketball belly, i am thinner than on our wedding day...crazy.

we've started our "birthing from within" classes. we have another one on thursday. i'll blog more about that later. it is good. we like it.

much love to you all!!! xoxoxo duke, tstar and the biscuit

height chart!

we plan to record the biscuits growth on the stem of this gerbera daisy. i painted it this week end. we ordered some cute little bugs that adhere to the wall. they should be here this week (thanks mimmay!)

getting ready!

i reorganized the bookshelf and cleared off the bottom two shelves for biscuit. that should get us at least a year of clearance before s/he can reach our books...haha. you can see that we have already started a collection for the literary genius!

new closet!

we used to have 2 entrances into our tiny bathroom...why? duke took advantage of this useless feature and built us a closet. since we only have 2 in our entire house, this is extremely helpful!!!

the best part is that it is accessible from both the biscuit's room and the bathroom. the diaper bin and the hamper too! convenient and practical...that is what we are all about, yo! oddly, it makes our bathroom look bigger...who knew?

yabba dabba doooooooo!

giant kankles a la biscuit! 95+ degree days, gotta love 'em. 33 weeks and puffed up!

32 weeks!!!

as the days go by, i get more and more excited to meet this little biscuit! my midwife appointment very well. i haven't gained anymore weight, but she estimates that the biscuit is about 4.5# now...right on target.

my gestational diabetes is totally under control. they say i am doing an excellent job with diet maintenance. seriously, i would never eat this well if it was not for the health of my baby!!! bring on the cupcakes yo! i am ready!

i've decided to have them fill up the waterbirth tub for me to labor in, even though they'll make me get out to deliver. the total submersion should help with the pain. "help" ha ha!

we're going to play bob marley while easing the biscuit into our world...happy go lucky, easy and cool... i keep joking that we'll all be swaying to the music and biscuit will just slide right out with a big smile. a girl can wish...right?

we begin our birthing from within class on next thursday. will keep you posted on how that goes. the instructor is a doula and will be coming to our house for private instruction...awesome! melissa (our great friend and amazing LMT) will be attending the classes as well as the birth for massaging and support. we are super lucky!
