8 days and counting!

ok, so the countdown is on! biscuit is stretching out as i write this...aaaahhhgg...ouch! i am ready to meet the baby booger and kiss its little toes! pregnancy has been an amazing experience! it is bittersweet to know that i've had this little baby all to myself and now i have to share, however...now i get to share!!! and i am ready to squeeze this sucker out.

we had our 39 week appointment with our midwife yesterday. still at about 15 pounds of baby weight on me and the old uterus is measuring 37 inches. she says that the biscuit is starting to settle in my pelvis and is still growing. heart rate was between 150-160...the baby was squirming as usual. never stays still. an active baby is a healthy baby, i say!

based on measurements and gut feelings...maggie estimates a birthweight of about 8" 10 oz. (she says she reserves the right to re-estimate when i go into labor.) since the baby is 'right occiput posterior' (head down, back along my right side), they say that this will make for a quick intense labor, in their experience anyway. that sounds like duke and me, doesn't it?

i am really not worried about the birth...it is the anticipation that is killing me! when, WHEN! the midwives say that it is their job to create a "holy birthing place" for us. they will intervene only if they have to, as well as be there to catch the biscuit. we will have the birthing tub there to labor in, however, since i have gd...they won't let me push in the water. i am considered a high risk pregnancy. with that being said, maggie called me her star patient and suggested that i write an article for parenting magazine to give other moms to be heathy snack options and what not, since food is my passion. maybe i can make some money off of this gd thing.

our great friend melissa will be in the birthing room with us. she attended our birthing classes and will help us to relax and massage me (she is an LMT.) she has a very calming way about her. it will be nice to help take some pressure off from duke too. she gave me an amazing massage on sunday...if only i could wake up and go to sleep that way everyday!

sleeping is quite a challenge these days. i go back to the beginning of this blog and repeat...I AM READY TO MEET THIS BABY ON THE OUTSIDE!

we'll keep you posted...xo t and biscuit

roundation nation!

37 weeks and 5 days today. we saw a different midwife in the group, nora, she was very nice. it was interesting to get a new perspective this late in the game. she gave me props for keeping up so well with the special diet. i asked for her estimate on biscuit's birth weight...she said by the time i deliver we may just see an 8.5-9 pounder! dang. i'm hoping she's a little on the heavy side. haha. i guess i'd rather squeeze out a chunker than a baby chicken.

i have lost a little weight...back down to 15 for me. belly is measuring at 36 centimeters. last week it was 34 and the week before 35...who knows. the biscuit moves so much, it is hard to get a good read. she was chasing the heart beat around today. my belly looked like a wave pool!

this kid moves non-stop! i told duke that i think s/he is teaching a hip hop class in there.

this is the word from the bird...until next monday's appointment...xoxoxoxo t and biscuit

waddle

this video is dedicated to marianna...she really wanted to see my waddle...we got busted by the 88 year old lady across the street...ha! good thing i don't embarrass easily.

36 weeks and 5 days now. the biscuit is cleared to arrive at will! our midwife appointment went super well today. here is the follow up email she sent me after my blood test results came in...

Dear T-Star, Here's the result for today -- perfect! I just wanted you to know that I am aware of how difficult it is to make all the changes you have had to make with this pregnancy and acknowledge what a wonderful job you have done! You have made it look easy (but I know it's not). Maggie

yes, i am boasting. my weight gain is still around 17 pounds and the biscuit is still moving strong! active baby today had a heartrate around 146 bpm. head is down, back curves up my right side so that the little butsy is under my ribs (ouch) and left leg is across my belly with knee and foot jetting out causing the giant "coners" as we've dubbed them. lots of movement with that leg. the stretching has not stopped either...dysmorphic belly!

duke went with me to the appointment today. he got to feel the head and hear the heartbeat too. it is so endearing.

i asked duke to take a picture of me from behind, so that i can know what i look like. people keep telling me that i don't look pregnant until i turn around.

we have the biscuit nook all set up in the office. we'll be bringing an armchair and nursing stool up here too for nighttime convenience.

bring on the baby! we love you all and will get back with you soon. xoxoxo

week 36!

wow. i was looking through this blog, at all of the past belly pictures, and i thought i was big in every one as they were taken...but dang! this is a big belly! the biscuit has been baking now for 36 weeks. oh, how time does fly. we have an appointment with the midwife on monday. we will let you know how that goes. duke is coming too, since he hasn't heard the heartbeat in awhile. awwwww.

the biscuit has been getting hiccups. so funny, i thought that there was a rhythmic genius in there just tapping away. biscuit is also really into stretching...future yogi? all i have to say about that is OUCH! please remove your little foot from my ribcage baby! sometimes i can't even sit up straight because of it. very strong baby! i am glad though. i know s/he is strong and healthy.

we just can't wait to meet him/her and kiss those little toes!

first anniversary!

so much has happened since september 11th of 2009! i can't believe that we are about to celebrate our first anniversary! thank you all for being part of our wonderful lives!!! the biscuit is going to be the best loved kid EVER!

we hope to celebrate with a fancy dinner out and an end of the summer Korean bbq on sunday. i just wrote to the midwife with a dietary plee...

hi there,

i have been an excellent gestational diabetes patient without any high numbers at all for 5 weeks and then some! with that being said, my husband and i will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary on sat. (sept. 11) and i am looking for permission to cheat on my diet for one fancy dinner.

i don't want to be a bad mom, so i understand if you don't advise it. i do promise to take a walk after. i'll be seeing you on monday, sept. 13.

thank you for your time!
xo tstar

i hope she complies! xo t and biscuit
